A look at how I've been diverting myself lately.
Books
READING: Kristin Lavransdatter by Sigrid Undset, trans. by Tiina Nunnally; The Merry Wives of Windsor by William Shakespeare; Christopher Marlowe by Park Honan; Postwar: A History of Europe since 1945 by Tony Judt.
FINISHED: The World of Christopher Marlowe by David Riggs.
ON DECK: Much Ado about Nothing by William Shakespeare.
Movies
SAW: Sunset Boulevard [I had never seen it on the big screen before; brings new meaning to the part where William Holden goes, "You're Norma Desmond! You were big!" and Norma goes, "I am big. It's the pictures that got small."]
Music
CDs LISTENED TO LAST WEEK: "Into the Woods: Original Cast Recording"; "Assassins: Original Cast Recording"; "Passion: Original Broadway Cast Recording"; "Anyone Can Whistle: Live at Carnegie Hall"; "Follies: The Complete Recording," vol. 1.
Fool's Four
MY FOUR FAVORITE COCKTAILS:
1. Vodka tonic.
2. Gin and tonic.
3. Uh, does Corona count?
4. After three drinks, I'll take anything: rubbing alcohol, paint thinner, anything. Except, of course, anything with Kahlua or Bailey's in it. That's just gross.
