A look at how I've been diverting myself lately.
Books
FINISHED: Christopher Marlowe by Park Honan.
Plays
SAW: Ismene (Dream Theatre); Gypsy (Ravinia Festival) [Patti LuPone was marvelous. During "Rose's Turn" she was like a musical comedy version of King Lear. It stopped the show.]
Movies
SAW: The Seventh Continent, 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance [The Film Center is doing a Michael Haneke retrospective all month].
SEEING: Heading South.
OLD MOVIE OF THE WEEK: The Piano Teacher (Haneke, 2001), screened at the Gene Siskel Film Center [I've seen it before, but I want to see ice princess deluxe Isabelle Huppert again].
Music
CDs I LISTENED TO THIS WEEK: Frank Sinatra, "The V-Discs," vols. 1-2; "Frank Sinatra in Hollywood," vols. 1-3.
Fool's Four
FOUR STRAIGHT-GUY INTERESTS I CAN TOLERATE:
1. Baseball.
2. The Three Stooges.
3. Beer.
4. Pussy.
