I have come to dread the arrival of the mail because every day it brings a new magazine I will not have time to read. Is it me, or has the interval between issues shrunk? Here are the unread periodicals currently sitting on my desk and weighing on my soul:
three issues of The New Republic (Nov. 3, 17, and Dec. 1)
two issues of The New York Review of Books (Nov. 24, Dec. 8)
the November issue of Mojo
the fall issue of the Oxford American
the fall issue of the Northwestern alumni magazine [I can't even find the time to thumb through the Class Notes section for my quarterly dose of inadequacy!]
I can't live like this.
