I haven't belonged to a gym since moving into my new neighborhood. I can't find one with membership fees less than $50 per month. Back in Uptown, I only had to pay $33. Sure, most of the treadmills didn't work and the place smelled like mildew, but think of the savings!
Having at last reconciled myself to the fact that those days are behind me, I have decided that I can justify paying half a C-note on fitness every 30 days if I can cut $50 somewhere else. Here's what I came up with: by my (conservative) estimate, I spend approximately $100 per month on coffee at places like Starbucks and Metropolis. If I forgo these purchases every other day--drinking the free stuff at work or brewing my own at home on those days--it should result in monthly savings of around $50. Bingo: gym money.
Now let's finance a trip to Paris!
