Since moving to Edgewater, I have seen the following animals on my block: a possum, three rabbits, a dead rat, five raccoons traveling in a pack, and several cats, including one I call the Homicidal Cat because it once came after my dog, Lucy (who reacted as though she were being eaten alive by a saber-toothed tiger).
Living in these critter-filled environs is markedly different from the way things were in my old neighborhood of Uptown. The only animals that live in Uptown are pigeons, squirrels, and the invisible insects crawling all over the schizophrenics.
This will take some getting used to.
