A look at how I've been diverting myself lately.
Books
READ: Dancer from the Dance by Andrew Holleran [the first selection in my two-person book club with Kito. On Sunday, we're going to eat caviar and drink Pernod while we discuss it].
COMING UP: The Uninvited Guests by Sadie Jones [Kito's pick].
Movies
SAW: Lore.
LAST WEEK'S MOVIE NIGHT PICKS
THEME: Cats.
KITO'S SELECTION: Duma (dir. Ballard, 2005) [it's a family film about a South African boy and his pet cheetah].
MINE: The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan, 2012) [Anne Hathaway plays Catwoman, you see].
Food
ATE: Chilled tofu, Japanese sweet potato fries, raw sea bream with rice and tea broth, king crab, pork jowl, chicken gizzard, and chicken heart @ Sumi Robata Bar [while Kito and I were there, we heard two different diners ask for sushi rolls--even though the whole layout of the place is centered on a glass box inside of which a guy is very conspicuously grilling meat. Open your eyes, people].
Television
WATCHING: Nashville (ABC), Community (NBC) [boy, the post-Dan Harmon era is rough], The Simpsons (Fox).
ON DEMANDING: Girls [after I get caught up, I'm gonna start in on Scandal].
Current Interests
The gays, the weather, animals, television, Arkansas, bizarre news items, the Supreme Court, musicals, pop music, movies, travel, the BFF.
Fool's Four
FOODS I DON'T LIKE:
1. Blue cheese.
2. Grapefruit.
3. Licorice [which should make that Pernod rather hellish].
4. Sushi [the meat tastes like tongues].
Glitter
[via Vulture's rundown of The Cosby Show's best musical moments]
ELSEWHERE:
My review of Akvavit Theatre's Gjenganger is in this week's Time Out Chicago.
I made the Current Interests list twice in a row... am I being punk'd?
